About the brand
Rick Owens was born in Porterville, California in 1961 and worked for years as a patternmaker in Los Angeles garment factories before starting his label there in 1994. He built it slowly on bias-cut leathers and washed jerseys in a palette he calls dust and milk, showed in New York in 2002, and moved to Paris the year after, where the label has been based since. His work runs glamour and brutalism together, and it extends past clothing into furniture and publishing, much of it made with his wife and partner Michèle Lamy.

Material
Outer 41% cotton, 40% viscose, 19% linen. Lining 53% viscose, 47% cupro at the back, 100% cupro in the sleeves, 100% cotton at the front. Rib 100% wool. Embroidery 50% acrylic, 50% wool.
Care guide
Dry clean only, and tell the cleaner about the embroidery. The rays are long floats of wool and acrylic thread that snag before anything else does, so keep the jacket away from velcro, rough straps and jewellery, and hang it on a broad hanger rather than folding the embroidery against itself.
