About the brand
Rick Owens was born in Porterville, California in 1961 and worked for years as a patternmaker in Los Angeles garment factories before starting his label there in 1994. He built it slowly on bias-cut leathers and washed jerseys in a palette he calls dust and milk, showed in New York in 2002, and moved to Paris the year after, where the label has been based since. His work runs glamour and brutalism together, and it extends past clothing into furniture and publishing, much of it made with his wife and partner Michèle Lamy.

Care guide
Have the crotch seam and the tears closed by a tailor before wearing them hard; the lining hides them but will not stop them spreading. Dry clean, or hand wash cold and hang to dry. Press only under a cloth on low, so the sheen of the weave is not flattened. The raw hems will fray slowly, which is the finish.
