About the brand
Isamu Katayama grew up in Hiroshima around his father's motorcycles, which is where the leather started, moved to Tokyo in his early twenties to work for a leather bag maker, and founded BACKLASH in 1999. What sets the label apart is the order of operations: the leather is dyed after the garment is sewn, not before. Jackets and boots go into the dye as finished objects, often by Katayama's own hand, so they shrink and pucker along the seams and the colour marbles into the hide differently on every piece.

Care guide
Specialist leather clean only: no washing, no bleach, no iron. Sueded kangaroo takes water marks, so keep it out of the rain and brush it gently with a suede brush when the nap flattens. Before conditioning anything, test on a small hidden area first and let it dry. Hang on a broad hanger away from light.

Proposals must meet these requirements to be answered. A trade proposal is one message carrying:

  • The item you are looking to trade for
  • Your item: brand, name, tagged size
  • Photographs of the front, the back, the labels and every flaw
  • Its measurements
  • Whether you want a straight trade or a trade with cash on either side

Trades can also be paid out in store credit. Credit offers run higher than cash offers.
