About the brand
Carol Christian Poell is an Austrian designer, born in Linz into a family of leather makers, who studied in Vienna and Milan and started his label in Milan in 1994. He works largely without seasons, advertising or interviews, and no designer has gone further into material: he knitted a sweater from tanned pig intestines, wove neckties from human hair, shaped a bag from the skin of a whole pig so it kept the animal's form, set human teeth into silver jewelry, dyed leather in bull's blood, and had dye injected into the veins of animals before slaughter so the vascular pattern froze into the hide. His collections have been shown closer to installation than runway, garments floated down a Milan canal, models suspended in a stairwell. The work runs on construction: seamless knitwear, object dyeing, and leathers finished by methods he developed himself.

Dry clean, or hand wash cold and dry flat out of direct light. Never wring it. Undyed wool yellows with age and light, so store it dark and do not bleach. Lift pills with a comb rather than pulling them.
